Pulmonary edema after shoulder arthroscopy in an old female under general anesthesia

A number of complications have been ascribed to shoulder arthroscopy, but pulmonary edema is rarely reported. 64-year-old female underwent right arthroscopic repair for supraspinatus and subscapular tears under intermuscular sulcus brachial plexus block (ISBPB) general anesthesia. Finishing suture torn tendon, acromion distal clavicle plasty, the patient represented symptoms dyspnea, oxygen saturation quickly dropped 80% without supply. After inhaled oxygen, returned 95%, while dyspnea didn’t improve. Noticing swelling in neck chest, left movement trachea, low breath sounds wet rales during auscultation, ultrasound examination was performed found obvious pleural slip, a large b-lines lung, indicating edema. injection furosemide dexamethasone (i.v.), outcome satisfactory. This first report as complication which also reviews relevant factors fluid extravasation, highlights good use equipment at hand judge patient's condition.
